2019 marks BE Campbells 50 Year anniversary. The company has expanded from simple butchering and wholesale to now offering a vertically integrated supply chain of meat processing, portioning and value adding.
Our History
Founded in 1969 by the Campbell family
With over a hundred years of rich pastoral history behind them, Bruce and Marie Campbell founded BE Campbell in 1969. Since then, our business has grown to become one of Australia’s largest family-owned meat processing facilities.
Take a look at some of the key moments in our history.
The company was founded in 1969 by Bruce Edward Campbell.
BE Campbell Group in its earliest form was a delivery run of carton meat out the truck on the left of the photo to around 20 customers, mainly restaurants and butcher shops. The photo is taken outside the family home in Eastwood, NSW. Note a young Ted Campbell in the centre.
The business operated out of shared premises at Homebush, before it was recommissioned ahead of the 2000 Olympic Games. At this time, Homebush was a hub of butcheries, cold storages and tanneries due to the existence of the then NSW State Abattoir and Saleyards.
The company moved into its own premises in Mutton Lane, Homebush.

Wetherill Park Site in 1990.
Wetherill Park site with extension no 1 in 1995. The primary purpose of this extension of the premises was to provide freezer capacity, allowing the company to hold additional stock as well as opening up export opportunities.
BE Campbell’s first export container is loaded, headed for Japan.
Wetherill Park site with extension no 2 in 2000 allowing for greater processing capacity as well as additional office space for growing administration and sales staff requirements.
The Arndell Park site was opened in 2008 as a further processing tray pack plant, allowing BE Campbell Group to expand its portioned and retail ready product offering.
Young Abattoir begins production in 2014. The facility has been redesigned to encompass all aspects of best manufacturing practice and ensure production is environmentally responsible.
